Brecon Remembers World War I - The Men who Died
In the WWI Special Edition of the Old Boys’ newsletter in 2014 we included brief summaries of the Old Boys who had died in World War I. These were provided by Steve Morris who was a member of a team engaged in the task of writing a book with the above title. The task was undertaken by the Family History Group of the Brecon U3A. The book, which includes details of all the Brecon men who fell in World War I, was launched on 6th December 2016 in Brecon, and can be read on-line or downloaded from the website www.breconremembers.co.uk. This would be an excellent resource for anyone researching their ancestors who died in WWI.
The New High School
The new school opened in December 2019 and members of the Old Boys' Committee were shown round on 22nd January 2020 when they were in Brecon for a committee meeting. The pupils were enjoying the new environment after the dilapidated condition of the old building!
Mr Richard Jenkins, who was brought in as interim Headteacher of the High School in 2019, was appointed to the permanent post with effect from 1st March 2020. Prior to his move to Brecon he was senior deputy at Porth Community School. An extended article about Mr Jenkins will appear in the 2022 Old Boys’ newsletter.
A successful rearranged reunion was held at the Castle Hotel on Saturday, 18th September, 2021 and included the Presidential address from Robert Breeze.
