The Silurian

School Magazine 1950–1971

The first Silurian was published by the Boys' Grammar School in 1950, the year the Old Boys' Association was formed. Publication ended in 1971 when the Grammar School was replaced by comprehensive education at Brecon High School.

These publications are valuable records of school life. They contain results of the annual school Eisteddfod, school athletics competitions, sports team information, university reports from alumni, Old Boys' Association activities, and articles and poetry submissions.

The content evolved over the years: prefect photographs disappeared after 1963, examination results listing subject achievements ended in 1962, and from 1967 onwards there are no details of the Eisteddfod and athletics results.

Thanks to David Jones for providing scanned copies of the magazines and for suggesting their publication online.
